Japanese Studies 101

Japanese Studies 101 is my project to create an online media-enhanced version of the university course in Japanese Studies made fun, accessible, and knowledge-enriching for everyone interested in Japan and its culture, history, society, arts, and food. Based on my 30 years of studying, living, working in and, teaching about Japan, I want to deliver a crystallised version of what I have learnt through the 40-odd university courses I took on the way to my PhD and beyond.

Delivered in three tiers from Beginners' to Advanced it is designed for you to enjoy it at your own pace picking what you like with access to further resources and personal tutorials. Structured similarly to a university Japanese Studies course, its 24 subjects covers issues from The Making of Japan to Gender and Sexuality.

Please send me your suggestions about what kind of topics about Japan you would like me to talk about and what kind of questions about Japan you would want to know answers to.
